If you are part of the workforce or a business owner then the phrases “No ID No Entry” or “No Badge No Entry” and the term “Badge Holder” would already sound familiar, wouldn’t they? With the advent of new physical access control technology being applied at many businesses today, electronic name badges have been issued to employees while badge readers and scanners have been strategically installed at virtually all ingress and egress points at the workplace. Day in and day out during the work week, part of the daily routine of the employees is to use their ID badges to swipe in during entry to the workplace and then swipe out as they call it a day in the workplace and then leave via the electronically controlled exit points. Yes, having to swipe in and out is quite monotonous and inconvenient to many of the employees. But even many do find it inconvenient, there is no other choice but to do it lest they be denied entry and exit at the workplace. Blame it on those security procedures, I guess. But whether we like it or not, security protocols have to be in place at workplaces in order to create a safe and secure work atmosphere day in and day out.  But times have also changed and these inconveniences has been somewhat reduced these days. Why?  Read on to find out.

Introducing: Retractable Badge Holders

Before the retractable badge holder was invented, employees having those identification badge holders with alligator clips would usually take off or unclip their respective ID name badges in order to swipe in or out at the badge readers or scanners. For those who were using neck custom lanyards to hold their respective ID badges, they usually just pull up their ID badges and tend to have their neck pulled along with the badges towards the readers or scanners in order to swipe. These maybe be minute things but they do tend to give some degree of inconvenience. When retractable badge holders became available, they immediately became a boon to many employees for the reasons mentioned above.

The retractable ID badge holder is actually just a reel which can extend its cord up to 24 inches or more in length. Attached to the cord is a vinyl strap which is used to hold the name badge securely to the retractable cord. The cord then reels back smoothly after you release the grip on your identification badge. The badge reels usually come with durable clips which could be used to securely fasten them to clothing parts such as the collars, belt loops, breast pockets and neckties. Not only that, the retractable reels can also be attached to a custom lanyard if one prefers to wear their name retractable ID badge holder that way. Those very simple yet very useful retractable name badge holders have made our entry and exit routines at the workplace much easier to carry out. The days when we have to almost kiss the wall or glass whenever we use our badges are things of the past already.

Other Badge Holder Applications

Aside from using it to hold those ID badges or proximity cards, these holders can also be very useful in a lot of other applications. They also come in handy in large assemblies such as seminars, conventions and trade shows where proper identification and color coded tags are needed. They can also be used to hold those bunch of keys of yours. However, a heavy-duty badge holder would be appropriate for holding those heavy bunch of keys though. The different applications these badge holders can be used with makes them a versatile piece of possession with a large practical value. Due to their popularity, manufacturers of these holders are giving them as promotional giveaways during trade shows.

Badge Holder Availability And Cost

Due to their immense popularity with the workforce and business entities, these badge holders come widely available across the country under different brand names such as Norwood, Avery and 3M just to name a few. The reels of retractable badge holders can be round or square in shape and can be made of transparent materials such as durable plastic resins. They also come in many translucent colors which make them more appealing. Some durable types have their reel casings made with stainless steel or even topped with gold or chrome finish. Choosing the right retractable badge holders will depend a lot on personal preference, taste and budget though.  Depending on the material composition, their prices will vary accordingly. The cheapest ones are the ones made of plastic materials while the more expensive ones are those made of metallic casings such as stainless steel, aluminium, and chrome finished casings. Placing large orders usually brings a better deal as suppliers will provide reasonable discounts when purchasing in bulk and deliveries can be free depending on the deal you strike with the vendor.
